Dictionary Word Project
Artist: Kristy Patterson
Kristy Patterson is an art teacher who works with multiple mediums and a range of styles. Her most recent works are drawings on pages from discarded dictionaries. Theses are simple little drawings resembling vintage illustrations from her childhood. Her works form a narrative story of past times on her family farm in Oklahoma. She captures these moments on 30-150 year old dictionaries, which are fragile and require multiple mediums to develop. She rescues these books from libraries around the country and repurposes them so the pages regain their importance. She has also developed a method of reproducing dictionary pages on equally old parchment paper, which enables her to work larger than typical book size.
